everyone should be familiar with binx...
either through direct contact or my consistant
posts about her in the past.
anyways...
about 4-5 months ago she got spayed.
shortly thereafter she developed a LARGE
mass of tissue development in the same
area as the surgery.
at the time i was concerned that the surgery
was faulty or, at very least, caused an
infection that created the reaction in the
form of a large 'lump' on her belly.
the lump grew.
at first it was big enough to *seem* like
she was producting milk... which is impossible...
but it gives you an idea.
today its about the size of a small potato.
last week binx went to the vet... the same
vet that performed her surgery -- JUST IN
CASE it was faulty and they could pay for
any damages that happened as a result of
the surgery.
anyways...
the vet took samples from inside the lump(s)
and shipped them off to bumfuck to have them
analyzed.
he called yesterday to say that the results
showed that the lump is a benign tumor.
he didn't suggest surgery because he felt
the surgery to remove the tooma would cause
unnecessary stress to binx.
he said to wait a month and monitor the lump.
if it got bigger... it should be removed.
however he also said that if binx REALLY
had to have it out immediately, that he
would perform the surgery... even though
he felt it should wait.
....so binx shall wait.
now i'm not all ganked about this thing.
i feel bad because the sucker is pretty big
and binx cannot clean herself properly as
well as sits in (what i feel to be) awkward
positions due to the placement of the tooma.
but.... she is still active and plays like
she normally did... and she eats really good.
on a whole, she is normal.
i guess i'm just posting this because i
know that eventually she will have to go
and have it removed.... and since the vet
seemed adamant about doing it... i have a
stressor about it.
just wanted to vent.

Shatz..tango just had some surgery for what appeared to be a tumor..ended up being a form of skin cancer that was harmless..better to have it when they say then to wait and it possibly to change..or become worse..poor thing..it has to be somewhat uncomfortable..and i'd ask if it was realted to the surgery too..since its in the same spot..gotta wonder about that..might be they messed up the surgery or something.. <font size="4" face="Tempus Sans ITC, Tahoma">God, I can just hear Arnold in my head right now saying, "it's not a tooma" *LMAO*
Back to the topic, I think everyone saying a 2nd opinion is right. What if, you took your cat back to the vet and he does relaize it is his mistake. He isn't going to admitt it, because then he knows he messed up and will either have to reimburse you or not make you pay for the surgery. Creating "word of mouth" bad business for him. I most definatly think, if he messed up he isn't going to come right out and tell you. Does that make any sense?
